Job Description
The Braid Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring braiding equipment used in the production of wire and cable products. This position will load bobbins, reels, and shielding materials, thread machines according to required braid patterns, and adjust machine settings including tension, speed, pitch, and take-up to maintain consistent production quality. The operator will monitor equipment during production, correct minor issues such as broken wires or tension problems, and inspect finished materials for proper braid coverage, defects, diameter, and overall workmanship. Additional responsibilities include using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, maintaining accurate production and material records, performing routine equipment cleaning and basic preventive maintenance, and following all safety and quality procedures.

 

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Previous manufacturing, machine operating, wire and cable, textile, shielding, or braiding experience is preferred but not required. Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow work orders, specifications, drawings, and written instructions. Basic math, computer, and data-entry skills are required. Experience using calipers, micrometers, or other measuring equipment is a plus. Candidates must be comfortable performing repetitive hand work, handling small wires and materials, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be dependable and willing to work overtime, weekends, rotating shifts, or holidays as needed.
